Year 6 Towers Workshop
Mr Reynolds sent this report:
On Tuesday, 4 February, 45 Year 6 students attended the DT Towers workshop. Working in teams, they were challenged with building Invicta’s tallest tower out of some unconventional building materials! Using just midget gems and cocktail sticks, the students had to construct a freestanding tower in 30 minutes.
All teams worked well to complete the challenge, with a wide variety of approaches to form the best tower structure. After the 30 minutes, nearly all the teams had managed to build a tower that was free standing and the team who were crowned winners managed to build their tower to an impressive 48cm tall.
Well done to all students involved, some great problem solving and engineering based thinking was definitely seen in action! Thank you to the following Year 11 DT students for helping with the event; Amber in 11I, Amy in 11V, Faith in 11V, Elizabeth in 11I and Caitlin in 11C and to Mrs Ladbrook and Mr Curtis for helping to organise the workshop.
