RSE
The aim of  Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) at Invicta Grammar School is to give young people the information they need to help them develop healthy, nurturing relationships of all kinds, not just intimate relationships. It enables them to understand and recognise what a healthy relationship looks like in a range of situations, including professional relationships, friendships, and other types of committed relationships. It covers contraception, developing intimate relationships and resisting pressure to have sex and what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviour in relationships.
Through our age-appropriate RSE curriculum we:

Provide a framework in which sensitive discussions can take place.

Prepare students for puberty, and give them an understanding of sexual development and the importance of health and hygiene.

Help students develop feelings of self-respect, confidence and empathy.

Create a positive culture around issues of sexuality and relationships.

Teach students the correct vocabulary to describe themselves and their bodies.
Below is a snippet from our recent RSE Power Day:
Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) Power Day was an extremely successful day, with sessions being specifically tailored to all year groups in the school. We welcomed several outside agencies to deliver workshops and assemblies to students.
Up Front Theatre company who are always a favourite with the students delivered workshops in the following areas, Puberty and Emotions, Drugs and Alcohol Sex and Relationships and The Serious Chat (Mental Health).
Daniel Spargo Foundation delivered sessions to Year 9 and 10 for the first time, these sessions were hard hitting and very factual but gave students an insight into the dangers of illegal drugs and vaping.
We also welcomed back Zara from the Panda Anti-Racism team, who delivered workshops to Year 7 and 8 around how to prevent and respond to racism.
Midwives from MSI Reproductive Choices delivered small sessions to Year 11 and 13 students on contraception, STIs, pregnancy and consent.
We also had a speaker from One Chance and DBA Project discussing County Lines with Years 7-10, educating them on the dangers of getting involved with the wrong people, what to do if they are asked to do something they know is wrong and where to turn to for help.
RSE at Invicta Grammar covers all compulsory aspects of the Statutory Guidance for RSE (2019). The content is delivered through the PSHE curriculum, the delivery of national curriculum and GCSE science content.
Parents have the right to withdraw their children from the non-statutory/non-science components of sex education within RSE up to and until 3 terms before the child turns 16. After this point, if the child wishes to receive sex education rather than being withdrawn, the school will arrange this.
Requests for withdrawal should be put in writing and addressed to the Headteacher/Head of School. The Headteacher/Head of School will discuss the request with parents and take appropriate action. Alternative work will be given to pupils who are withdrawn from sex education. 
The RSE curriculum has been developed in conjunction with the PSHE Association, Government guidelines and through a consultation process with staff, students and parents/carers. As a result we have formulated an age appropriate, and extensive RSE policy that suits the needs of our students.
There is ongoing consultation with students, staff, Heads of Year, the Safeguarding and SEND team, as well as parents/carers to ensure a structured, yet fluid provision that meets the everchanging needs of our students.
