Primary Maths Challenge
Mr Regan sent this report:
The annual Primary Mathematics Challenge took place on Wednesday 5 February. Pupils from ten primary schools took part in a range of challenges including relays, cross-numbers (crosswords but better as only using numbers), logic puzzles and a speed round. The logic puzzle was the real highlight to watch the pupils take on, with the initial reaction being a widespread concern as there appeared to be no obvious starting point, but over the course of the 20-minute activity, pupils worked hard in their groups to break down the challenge, consider ways to take the worded puzzles and display them graphically. Eventually, more than one team managed to complete the whole puzzle, which is a fantastic achievement.
A big thank you to all the staff and parents that came with the pupils and congratulations to all the teams that took part. In particular to St Andrews for winning overall and Valley Invicta Primary School at Kings Hill for achieving second place.
