Guggenheim Competition
One of the books our Year 7 and 8 students could choose from the Book Buzz initiative kindly funded by FIGS, was The Guggenheim Mystery by Robin Stevens. To tie in with this story, where a Kandinsky painting is stolen from the New York Guggenheim Museum, students in Year 7 and 8 were challenged to recreate one of the items currently on display in New York in whatever form they wished.
Mrs Bolton and a team of students from Year 9 to Year 13 were very impressed with the entries and judging was a difficult process.
1st place was awarded to Isabelle H in Year 8 for her interpretation of Gabriel Orozco’s Astroturf Collection.
2nd place was awarded to Zuzanna T in Year 7 for her interpretation of Georges Braque’s Violin and Palette.
3rd place was awarded to Lexie C in Year 7 for her interpretation of Edgar Degas’ Yellow and Green Dancers.
I would like to congratulate everyone who entered for their superb interpretations of the paintings and sculptures on display in the museum. All entries will be displayed in the Reading Room in the New Year.
