Autumn Concert
On Wednesday, 24 November Invicta hosted its first Autumn Concert in two years. While the wait has been long, the resulting performances were truly worth the wait, in one of our most exciting concerts to date. With a changed format of three slightly shorter concerts, students performed with confidence, musicality and professionalism which reminded the 600 attendees that evening what a special place the Invicta Music Department is. Highlights throughout the evening were numerous. Our new Year 7 and 8 Choir performed Count On Me and Autumn Leaves with an energy and enthusiasm that exceeded expectations. Our School Orchestra, pushed to a new level with Sibelius’s challenging Finlandia, gave a truly outstanding performance that received a standing ovation. Our School Choir, as ever, was magnificent, bringing some in the audience (to quote a parent!) “to tears.” Our Chamber Choir, Guitar Ensemble, House Band, String Orchestra, Wind Band and Big Band were all uniquely sublime too. The finale of Bridge Over Troubled Water which brought together our school choirs and orchestra will live long in the memory, and is a great credit to our musicians that have kept persevering over the last two years. We are very proud indeed.
