Year 5 and 6 Transition Workshops
PE, History and 11+ Workshops
Invicta welcomed 15 smiley and highly enthusiastic Year 6's to the virtual PE workshop on Thursday, 21 January. It was wonderful to see such positive engagement in sport and so much support for each other during friendly competition. The session began with a film inspired active warm up. The main task was an interactive game of pe-opoly. Congratulations to Miss Lydall's Team 1 who managed to claim a narrow victory over Miss Wain's Team 2. All participants ended the session having had lots of fun and keen to play again.
Mr Saputo ran a History workshop with twenty very enthusiastic Year 5 students on Microsoft Teams. They were looking at how children lived through World War Two. The girls spent some of the workshop looking at photographic evidence about the war and using it to build up a picture of life for a child in the war. They then had to use the information they had gathered to come up with a civil defence plan to protect children in the war. We then compared their ideas with the reality experienced by children in the war by looking at first hand accounts and photos.
25 Year 5 students joined Miss Palmer, Tierney, Illinca, and Sophie all in Year 12 for an 11+ Familiarisation Workshop. After a few technical difficulties, the workshop ran smoothly, with the Year 5 students completing a number of activities relating to non-verbal reasoning, verbal reasoning, English and Maths. Thank you very much to Tierney, Illinca and Sophie for producing a fabulous set of resources and delivering the workshop!
