#JacktheLad Fundraiser
Chloe in Pankhurst and Ellie in Austen 2
On Friday, 7 February, to raise money for the #JackTheLad charity, we held a bake sale, sold raffle tickets and encouraged students at Invicta to wear blue accessories and t-shirts and wristbands provided by the #JackTheLad charity. We sold the t-shirts, wristbands and raffle tickets in the weeks running up to the event and visited various form groups and spoke in assemblies about the charities aims.
We decided to hold this charity event to raise as much money as possible for the #JackTheLad charity, that was set up in memory of our friend Jack Howe from Kings Hill. Jack, sadly lost his life last summer in a quad biking accident, whilst on his first holiday with friends; he was only 19 years old. We were eager to spread the charity’s important message of awareness and understanding in regards to young people staying safe while on holiday abroad. As many of our fellow students prepare for their first holiday without parents after their A Level and GCSE exams this summer, we felt the #JackTheLad message was especially important to share. #JackTheLad also supports families on the difficult journey after the death of a loved one abroad and helps with the financial costs of bringing a loved one home when the worst should happen.
As this charity and its message are very close to our hearts we were delighted to raise £1,187 on the day of the event and a further £268 from donations on the #JackTheLad just giving page for raffle tickets, bringing the total amount raised to £1,455. We are very grateful for the support from all the students at Invicta and their generous donations to the charity. The #JackTheLad just giving page is still open for donations and we continue to support the charity and spread the message.
