Invicta Speaks Competition
Orsolya in 10V sent this report:
On Monday, 3 February, a group of students took part in the Invicta Public Speaking Competition; a wonderful opportunity for students to show off their passion for public speaking. For the first round, students had to pre-prepare a 2-minute speech on either Going Green, A Picture Paints a Thousand Words, Life Beyond Earth or The Classical World. All of the speeches were fascinating, with subjects differing from healthy eating to the possibility of living on Mars. The second round proved to be more of a challenge, with students being given only a limited amount of time to prepare. The subjects for the seconds, one-minute speech were The Press, Portraits, Magic Numbers and the Wonders of The World. Though the pressure was on, the standard of these speeches was incredible, with a wide range of knowledge shown and some clever interpretations of the subjects. Overall, though our numbers were small, the standard was arguably the highest yet, giving our judges an extremely difficult time.
We would like to thank all the students who took part, the judges, Mrs McGivern and Dr White, as well as Mr Ehren for being the timekeeper, and Mrs Lloyd and Mrs Rush for organising this truly fabulous event.
