Kew Gardens Visit
Terrena in 10T sent this report:
On Monday, 18 November, 45 Year 10 students had the opportunity to visit Kew Gardens to conduct some experiments. On our arrival, we headed to the Prince of Wales Conservatory. Here, there were three different biomes: aquatic, tropical rainforest, and desert. In each biome, we tested a chosen plant on the light intensity around it, the humidity of the surrounding that it grew in, the temperature, and the size. We also predicted where the stomata would be located for each of the different plants. After this, we went to the alpine rock garden and studied the structure and characteristics of the plants that grow in these conditions. We then had the rest of the afternoon to explore Kew Gardens for ourselves. Some of the main attractions there that we visited were the beehives, the treetop walk, the pagoda, the palm house, and all of the other greenhouses and conservatories. Thank you to Miss Bailey and Miss Puttock for organising the trip.
