Pizza Express Music Event
Mr Heaton sent this report:
As the music department continues to thrive at Invicta, new ground was broken on Wednesday, 9 October with a "double header" of concerts! The 4pm Informal Concert showcased some accomplished and remarkably nerveless soloists including Phoebe Wells (French Horn), Isabel Blackie (Piano) and Mia Gillis Coates (Saxophone). Sophie Botten and Imogen Wood's Laputa in particular demonstrated levels of sophistication that belied their age. All students demonstrated remarkable composure, musicality and strength of character - well done indeed. A few short hours later, Invicta musicians were once again producing wonderful musical memories with a first for the department; an evening of music at Pizza Express. Performing in such a professional venue is not a task that should be taken lightly. Not only did students rise to this occasion, they excelled. Accompanied by our "in-house" band of Musicians in Residence, the evening featured a variety of solo singers, instrumentalists and house bands with a mixture of jazz, soul, pop and funk. It is difficult indeed to pick out highlights, with so many flawless, charismatic and energetic performances. The audience feedback spoke volumes, and "Outstanding", "a privilege to watch" and "remarkable" were just some of the many comments. Well done indeed, once again to Invicta musicians!
