Year 7 St Omer Trip
On Wednesday, 10 July 2019, Year 7 were able to visit France, stopping at Cite Europe and St Omer, to carry out geography fieldwork.
Students in Year 7 sent this report:
We excitedly arrived at school early in the morning ready for the annual trip to France. The aim of the day was to learn and use French vocabulary as well as carrying out geography fieldwork. We carried out footfall counts in Cite Europe and St Omer and saw if this linked shop type and the amount of litter. We had to calculate percentages of the different shops and compare this to Maidstone. It was enjoyable to be able to decide when to work, shop and eat ourselves.
We have many good memories of the day:
The ferry was an enjoyable new experience with comfy sets and a marvellous view of the blue ocean. Many of us queued for Starbucks in order to get a French chocolate frappe. The ferry seemed a bit like the Titanic as it was fancy with lots of lifeboats on the outside.
Cite Europe was amazing, it had lots of different shops especially for clothes and shoes. It is a really big centre with stores different from England; we tried to speak French even if it was just merci and au revoir.
We enjoyed St Omer town as it felt so different from Maidstone. We worked hard on our Geography and enjoyed waffles, crepes, and cakes from the patisserie. It was nice to explore the streets.
l look forward to telling lots of my friends at other schools. Invicta really does do the best school trips!
