Year 7 Geography Field Trip
On Thursday, 20, June Year 7 went on a walking fieldtrip around the nature areas of Bearsted. Our main aim was to practice data collection methods such as footpath analysis and field sketches as well as becoming better Geographers by finding out about the local area. We started our walk by going to Fauchons Lane, quite a desolate road with a good view of the countryside and a few houses. Then we walked up to Bearstead Green and had a quick break. After the break, we continued our walk, passing a church and memorial trees that honour villagers passed loved ones; this was the Woodland Trust Nature Area. We stopped for lunch then walked up to Mote Park via Spot Lane Nature Reserve alongside the River Len. We have been studying rivers so it was nice to see meanders in action!
We walked over 10km in total and our feet were tired but it was a fun, exciting experience that was thoroughly enjoyed!
Highlights of the day:
Swans and Cygnets at Mallards Pond
Picnic lunch in the Bearsted Woodland Trust Park
Being silent while sketching so we could hear the birds sing!
