Primary STEM Challenge
On Thursday, 14 March, we were lucky to have 7 primary schools join us for a Stem Challenge Day. The Day was a Despicable Me themed escape challenge where teams had to complete a series of tasks to get out safely. They started the day by building a tunnel to get their team and 4 minions out of an area using only tape, loo rolls and string. All teams were very creative and the race was on to get it done in the fastest time.
The second challenge was a rocket building challenge. Students designed their rocket to travel the furthest. The team from Kings Hill designed a rocket that travelled 12 meters, winning them the round.
Phew! The teams escaped the secret lab and managed to get into the main house. Testing their reactions time to send the faster member to disable the trap. Students from Snodland impressed with their fast reaction times!
After demonstrating their ability to talk like a minion the teams faced the last challenge. Using universal indicator and household acids and alkalis to match a code to safely get out of the house.
All students had a great time and showed off some exceptional STEM abilities. We enjoyed hosting the 7 primary schools and are looking forward to the next event!
