Beyond the Curriculum
The Beyond the Curriculum whole school project continues to be an established part of the schools extended services provision. The cultural visits, which are at regular intervals, are a major component of the programme and they provide an opportunity for the individual to develop wider cultural understanding.
The programme includes:
Cultural Visits
There are regular visits to WestEnd theatre shows and to productions at the Marlowe theatre, Canterbury. There are many cultural visits to Galleries and Museums locally, in London and overseas. This year visits have included to the Mary Quant exhibition at the V&A and the ‘Mondrian’ Dress and ‘The Orient’ exhibitions at the YSL Museum in Paris.
Part of the programme has involved the long term partnership with the Enrico Tosi school from Lombardy, Italy. Annual visits are made to visit the school and there are excellent opportunities to visit the silk industry of Como and the creative and fashion centre of Milan.
Many of the trips have involved Galleries and Exhibitions where students were able to see first hand iconic artwork. The students who participated had an excellent experience and many considered the links and partnerships formed to be invaluable. There have also been visits related to careers and job opportunities.
