Chamber Choir
The Invicta Chamber Choir is a small and friendly group of singers from across different year groups who meet weekly to rehearse in the Auditorium. Directed by Miss Fletcher, the choir focuses on a predominantly traditional choral repertoire for upper voices and they perform from musical notation. Rehearsals have a large focus on singing technique, including breath control, vowel production, expression and blend. In recent years the choir has performed both accompanied and acapella works, from Pergolesi’s ‘Stabat Mater’ to Stanford’s ‘The Blue Bird’ and Vaughan Williams’ ‘Song of the Tree of Life’. The Chamber Choir perform regularly at whole school and informal concerts throughout the academic year. Christmas is particular highlight for the Chamber Choir, as they take part in many festive activities including performing carols at Maidstone Museum and charity carol singing in the mall. The Chamber Choir also take a prominent role in the Invicta Carol Service at All Saints’ Church, Maidstone. Any student interested in developing their choral singing to a high level should contact Miss Fletcher.
