Joining Invicta in September 2020

If you are considering a grammar school education for your daughter, you will already be giving thought to finding the right school for her. You will probably already know that Invicta Grammar School has an outstanding reputation in the county for being a school that provides an excellent education in a very special environment. An environment where every child is seen as an individual and where every member of staff is dedicated to ensuring that students are supported to achieve their potential in all that they do. We have an unrivalled reputation for supporting and guiding our students to fulfil their potential. Our staff are a well-qualified team who ensure that our students are prepared for each new step they take. We pride ourselves that our induction process supports our new students to make the move from primary to secondary school easily and successfully.

In September 2018, your daughter will be in Year 5 and will be eligible to attend our popular, Year 5 Invicta Familiarisation Workshops. These will take place after school (4.00pm – 5.00pm) and on Saturdays (9.00am - 11.00am). In addition, we have introduced activities for Year 5 students such as our Primary Creativity Group. These events can be booked via our online booking system.

Students will also have the opportunity to attend Public Speaking, Literacy, Mathematical and STEM Challenges at Invicta. Students are selected and places booked by their primary schools.  We contacted primary schools in July 2018 with information regarding dates and topics. Please do remind your daughter’s primary school about these events.

In the summer term of 2019, there will be a range of Year 5 Open Events, which will help your daughter to prepare for entry to secondary school and provide you with information regarding the transition process. We will hold a Year 5 Open Evening on Monday, 20 May 2019 for parents, carers and students followed by a Year 5 Taster Morning for students on Saturday, 22 June 2019. Our Year 5 Open Morning will take place on Thursday, 27 June 2019 and the Year 5 Open Afternoon will take place on Tuesday, 2 July 2019. These events will give you the opportunity to meet our students, tour the school and ask questions of our staff. These events are available for booking via our online booking system.

Year 5 English and Mathematics Preparation Workshops (4.00 – 5.00pm) take place on Thursday, 27 June 2019 (English) and Tuesday, 2 July 2019 (Mathematics). We are offering students the opportunity to further develop their English and Mathematics skills by attending these sessions. There will be additional Year 6 English and Mathematics Preparation Workshops in early September 2019.  These workshops will be available for booking via our online booking system.

We have provided detailed information regarding all these events in the Year 5 Transition Booklet for Parents 2018 - 2019 found below. Parents who have secured a place for their daughter at one of the Year 5 events should down load the consent form, which can be found on this page. The form should be brought to the first event attended at Invicta. We will then keep this information on record for any subsequent sessions.

We look forward to meeting you soon and welcoming you to our very special school, which received an outstanding accreditation from Ofsted after their inspection in September 2012.

A copy of this year’s Year 7 Parent Handbook can be found below. It contains information on many aspects of life at Invicta which will give you an insight into our happy successful school. The Admissions 2020 document found below gives more specific information regarding the admission process.
