Erasmus Visit from France
On 10-11 November, Invicta hosted two visitors from The British Section of the Lycee International St Germain-en-Laye in Paris. The visit is part of an Erasmus exchange, designed to share good practice and teaching skills, internationally. James Cathcart, the director of the British Section and Xana Jones from their English Department investigated the different ways in which we, at Invicta, develop our students and help them to become independent and autonomous learners. They discussed the Thinking Skills initiatives taken by the school, our integration of the Habits for Success, the work of our creative learning team and the enrichment opportunities open to students such as the Extended Project. Mr Cathcart and Ms Jones visited a number of lessons and were very impressed with our student’s enthusiasm, enjoyment and involvement. They later met with Mrs Giles, Assistant Head and Mrs Derrick, Headteacher to discuss the similarities and differences of the French and British education systems and teaching styles.
A return visit is planned in January 2015, when Ms Walters and Mrs Giles from Invicta will visit the Lycee to research the ways in which they prepare students for a summative oral assessment as part of their international option for the Baccalaureate.
