Oxbridge Information Evening

‘On Thursday, 18 January, approximately 30 students gathered in the Mezzanine for an Oxbridge workshop with Mr John Krumins: a Cambridge graduate and very successful businessman who believes passionately about bridging the gap between high achieving students in school and being successful in interviews for top universities. The students were put through their paces and answered questions on why they would be deserving of a place in Oxbridge Universities. The workshop was an insightful introduction to the Oxbridge interview process and developed personal communication skills, vital for successful candidacy. The session provoked us to consider and revise our reasons for applying and encouraged independent learning. I am sure we can all agree that we left feeling a little battered and ‘sore’, but the workshop was the confidence boost many of us Year 12 needed and highlighted areas to focus on and develop in the forthcoming months. The Year 11s were given an opportune head start to the process and will be able to develop their own confidence in a similar way over the next year.
The 2 hour workshop was followed by an Information Evening, where we were joined by Mrs Maria McElroy and Mr Luke Harrison-Ross, Schools Liaison Officers for both Oxford and Cambridge. This was an opportunity for parents and students to further their knowledge about the application process itself and proved to be a helpful and informative initiation into Oxbridge. We would like to thank Mr Krumins for taking the time to work closely with our students and similarly to Mrs McElroy and Mr Harrison-Ross for the informative evening.’
