Joining Invicta September 2026 and 2027
Application Guidance for Parents
To be eligible for Year 7 admission to Invicta in September 2026, your daughter must be assessed as suitable for a Grammar school through the Kent Procedure for Entry to Secondary Education (PESE), more commonly known as the Kent Test, and parents/carers must name Invicta Grammar School on their Secondary Common Application Form (SCAF). We are not a super-selective school and do not require a higher test score beyond this assessment.
Invicta does not have a defined catchment area. Offer distances vary significantly from year to year, depending on the number, location and overall profile of applicants in each admissions cycle.
The school will be closed for the Half Term holiday from Monday, 20 October to Friday, 31 October 2025. During this period, answers to many application related queries can be found on the Kent County Council(KCC) website or within the the Joining Us pages of our own website. If you require any further clarification, please contact admissions@invicta.viat.org.uk and we will respond as soon as possible but please be aware that this may not be until after the application deadline.
Your Secondary Common Application Form must be submitted to Kent County Council, or to the Local Authority in which you reside, by 31 October 2025.
A Supplementary Information Form is not required when applying to Invicta, unless your daughter is currently receiving, or has received at any point in the last 6 years, free school meals (this does not include Universal Infant Free School Meals).
Parents will be notified of their child’s allocated school on Monday, 2 March 2026.
Schools are not informed of the order in which parents rank their preferences on the SCAF, nor how children are ranked by other schools. This information is known only to KCC, which allocates the highest possible preference based on each school’s admissions policy and oversubscription criteria.
If your daughter is not initially offered a place at Invicta and wish for her to be added to our waiting list, you must inform KCC or your local authority by Thursday, 19 March 2026. A further round of allocations will take place on Thursday, 23 April 2026.
After this date, Invicta Grammar School will manage its own waiting list. Any subsequent offers will be made as places become available, in accordance with the oversubscription criteria outlined in our Admissions Policy. To be considered at any stage, your daughter must have been assessed as suitable for grammar school.
Invicta Grammar School may be named on the SCAF for a child who has not been grammar assessed; however, such applications will not be considered for allocation. Naming the school on the SCAF does, however, give parents the right to appeal.
If you named Invicta Grammar School on your SCAF but were not offered a place and wish to submit an appeal, please refer to the Appeals Information section on our website.
Primary Transition Workshops
At Invicta, we value the importance of a smooth transition from primary to secondary school. We recognise that it is a big step for students and parents. As such, we aim to provide a wide range of opportunities to enable students to feel at home quickly; to settle into our academic and social environment and to feel part of the Invicta community.
Invicta has an excellent induction programme, which starts in Year 5 and includes a variety of activities ranging from Year 5 Workshops, Open Evenings, and 11+ Preparation Workshops.

The programme continues in to Year 6 with Transition Workshops and a number of New Entrant’s Events for students who have been offered a place at Invicta. The students who join us in September 2026 will be our Class of 2033, when they complete their studies.
We do hope your daughter will attend these events and we look forward to welcoming you and your family to Invicta Grammar School.
If your daughter is preparing to sit the Kent Test, you may find the information and links to free resources on the Kent County Council website useful.
