The main aim of Interact is to work with the local community to offer social enterprise such as Over 60s tea dances, trips and outings and this academic year a barn dance. Interact has worked hard to raise over £3000 for charity fundraising during the academic year 2016-17; events included a Burns Night, and a Murder Mystery Evening, they were great successes and, although hard work, were really enjoyable to organize and done in conjunction with Young Chamber.
In November, we hosted a Murder Mystery Evening at Invicta, which raised over £1200. In January we will joint host the annual Burns Night Supper. For this event we will again be working with Young Chamber, another club within the school.
The money from all of these events will be going towards this year’s chosen charity Friends of ACIM.
This year Interact has branched out and has successfully launched a Fairtrade tuck shop within the school run every lunch time. This aims to promote healthy eating, the benefits of Fairtrade as well as raise money for charity.
Girls have been lucky enough to go on the RYLA leadership course supported by Rotary which added to their leadership skills.
Due to our connection with the Rotary Club we have had links and we were the given opportunity to attend Rotary meetings, to share ideas and expertise.
Our Junior Interact club runs during POP sessions. Last year’s team raised £50 for charity through the sale of candy canes and sweet bags. This year’s team are on track to raise even more. They have already successfully organised and ran a barn dance for the over 60s club, learning dances, baking cakes and making their own decorations. This was not only an enjoyable afternoon for the over 60s but also gave the students the opportunity to work together and form strong team bonds which will help them in the creation of their business.
We are always looking for new opportunities, so if you have any ideas please get in touch with Miss Pope.
