Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Practice Expedition
The Bronze Duke of Edinburgh participants embarked on their practice expedition this weekend, having worked hard in their POP sessions to complete their training, preparation and route planning.
After their pre-expedition equipment check the girls set off to walk over the North Downs to the campsite. Despite some rain, the groups were in high spirits and managed to navigate their routes successfully making it to the camp by early evening. We then saw a range of tasty meals cooked on the trangias after which the students settled in to their tents, hoping for a good night’s sleep. Next morning, the participants were up early and out of camp after breakfast to complete their second day.
Overall it was a very successful practice and they are now busy planning for their assessed expeditions in June.
Thanks go to all the staff that came to help supervise the groups. Ms Laxton, Miss Poulter, Mr Ehren, Miss Dixon, Miss Laming, Mrs Pink, Mrs Robinson, Mr Taylor and Mrs Grimsey. As usual, we also want to thank Mrs Smart, who works so hard to prepare the students for the awards and who attends every expedition.
