Our partner school from Singapore visits Invicta
On Tuesday, 20 September, Invicta Grammar and Valley Park welcomed Mrs Chand and Ms Yuwen from our partner school in Singapore. The Singapore School of Science and Technology is the inspiration for Valley Invicta Academies Trust’s Free School Application which will enable VIAT to open a new 11 – 18, School of Science and Technology in September 2018.
Mrs Derrick was delighted to welcome our visitors to tour the school and discuss our use of technology and our curriculum. Mrs Chand was intrigued by our students’ use of I Pads, along with the way in which we balance the use of ‘pen and ink’! This is in sharp contrast to Singapore, where the majority of student work is completed on an Apple Mac. Mrs Chand and Mrs Derrick discussed some exciting new projects for our students – working on a number of STEM case studies that will be shared via Skype for students in our schools.
Mrs Chand was also very pleased to be able to talk to two of our students – Emily and Kerry about their STEM and Performing Arts experiences at school. As a result, she wants to include more Performing Arts in the Curriculum at Singapore. Our whole day was very rewarding; being able to showcase our school and students, which as always is something to be very proud of.
