Salters Festival Success
On Wednesday, 4 May 2016, four Year 8 students, Isabel Dickinson, Ellie Breeze, Taybah Hiles and Romilly Foster visited the University of Greenwich in Medway, to participate as a team in the in the Salter’s Festival of Chemistry.
In the morning, they undertook the Salter’s Challenge. This was a forensic style investigation using new chemical techniques, test tube chemistry and experiments to determine who was responsible for the crime committed. The afternoon followed with the University Challenge where the students had to analyse the rate of a particular chemical reaction in order to produce a colour change at a particular moment in time. The day finished with a demonstration on colour chemistry and a presentation ceremony.
The students achieved excellent results and were placed 1st out of 12 teams in the Salters Challenge. Well done to all of them.
Thank you to Mrs Campbell for all of your help with this visit.
