Year 6 Transition Workshop - Dance
On Tuesday 1 March, Year 6 Primary school students joined us at Invicta for a Dance Workshop. The workshop was based on performance and composition, starting with a fun warm up and a quick team building game.
The students learnt a small phrase from the Year 12 Dance prefects, Charlie Love and Jess Lerwill, getting in touch with their groovy side to ‘uptown funk’ by Bruno Mars. They all did a superb job and picked it up very quickly. They then had the opportunity to add on their own counts and performed for each other.
At the beginning of the session the girls all introduced themselves and said whether they participated in dance either in or outside of school. By the end of the workshop, even those that said they ‘do not do dance’ left with a smile and a spring in their step and I hope that they remember the moves they learnt and perform them at their next school disco!
Thank you Mrs White for the report on the workshop and for delivering this session. The girls had a fantastic time.
