Year 5 Familiarisation Workshop - Art
Primary school students were invited to join Mrs Hambley in the Art studios on Saturday to participate in an Art Workshop as part of the Invicta Familiarisation Programme. Students arrived bright and early at Invicta's school gates eager to get started on the creative challenge for the day. The workshop was based around the children's story 'Where the Wild Things Are' by Maurice Sendak and the session commenced with a viewing of the narrated animation. Everyone was enthralled watching the adventures of the main character, Max, in his wolf costume and his journey to the land where the wild things are.
The creative task set was to explore the use of silhouette by employing layering techniques to create a back-lit scene. Students explored character illustration creating their own Wild Thing monsters which were then sandwiched between layers of tracing paper to in order to create a diorama style artwork. Students from all of the different primary schools worked extremely hard to complete their 3D artworks and the results were stunning! The certificates presented at the end of the workshop were all very well deserved!
A big thank you to Ella-Anne O'Donnell and Jasmine Brown both in Year 9 for their assistance in the running of the event. Very well done girls! Thanks also to Mrs Hambley who delivered the workshop.
