BIMA Digital Day
50 students from Year 9 and 10 took part in BIMA’s Digital Day, which took place on Tuesday, 17 November. Digital Day brings together schools and digital agencies to raise awareness of the diverse career opportunities available in the digital industry - recent research suggests by 2020 the UK will need 2.3 million digitally skilled workers. We welcomed Nikolas and Gemma from local digital agency “We love Digital” who gave us an overview of their agency, what they do, who they work with and gave an insight into the cool things they do on a daily basis. This year students gained hands-on experience talking challenges set by Standard Life, Vodafone and Sony Music.
Students worked in teams to complete their challenges and in the afternoon presented their work to the group. The students were fantastic, working well in teams and coming up with some amazing ideas including a Christmas advent calendar app, ideas on how to promote new album releases and apps to help young people save up to go to Glastonbury music festival. Nickolas and Gemma said they could not believe the amazing ideas the students came up with, and encouraged them to pursue a career in digital. Mrs Le Sbirel got involved in the live Twitter feed, tweeting and posting images throughout the day. We will be sending their entries to BIMA to enter the national competition – Good luck girls!
Thank you to Mrs Le Sbirel for organising todays exciting digital session.
