Julie Rose Athletics
The Invicta athletics teams attended the Julie Rose Athletics Stadium on Tuesday, 1 July with two very strong teams. The junior teams of Years 7 and 8 finished first with notable performances from Ciena Carpenter who won the 100m final, Asha Root who won the 200m final and the 4 x 100m relay team (Lauren Askeome, Ellie Callaghan-Inge, Asha Root and Ciena Carpenter) who also won. A big well done to Molly Green who on a very hot day ran a personal best in the 1500m and Lily Ebsworth who despite competing against Year 8s, when only in year 7 finished an admirable 5th.
The senior team came a very close 2nd in the competition with particular highlights of Dominique Buggs who won the 300m final convincingly and Paige Lutman-Manley who triumphed in the javelin. We were also impressed by Joyce Aitelegbe, who despite not performing competitively in the triple jump for two years came first! The senior relay team performed brilliantly in the 4x100m final where the combination of Dominique Buggs, Evie Horner, Grace Elliot and Annie Cruse left the other schools trailing after the first leg. Emily Smith also performed well on a hot and tiring afternoon in the Pentathlon.
A big well done to all those who attended to compete for the school. We are still waiting for confirmation of some times and distances.
