Year 6 Transition Workshop - Design Technology
Students from local primary schools attended a Year 6 Transition Workshop run by our Design and Technology Department on Tuesday, 11 February. Fifty girls were given the task to design and then build Invicta's highest, strongest tower. They were given some unconventional building materials; marshmallows and spaghetti to construct their tower and 30 minutes to work as a team to make the structure. Different teams adopted different approaches with varying success but all involved were definitely enjoying the challenge. The majority of teams managed to make a free standing tower by the end of the allotted time and the winning team constructed a tower measuring an impressive 91cm.
We were very impressed with their creativity. Well done to all involved and thank you to Mrs Parsons who ran the workshop.
