Year 8 Science Fair
Polina in 8N sent this report:
On the days running up to the science fair we all worked hard on our studies, experiments or innovations, making sure our boards were all looking amazing and ready to present. On the day, we all set up in the hall and the labs to present. In my opinion, the fair was a huge success and it was fun seeing so many different projects and how much effort had been put into each one. I was amazed by the diversity of topics ranging from how anti-depressants work to lie detectors to stars! There was so much passion and excitement; I could see how much everyone enjoyed the event. Personally, I had so much fun with the fair, from making the board to presenting it for judging, it was an amazing experience.

We were able to go to the Science fair to see what Year 8 have been working on. The Science fair was fun and interesting; there were many fascinating projects, from food experiments to biological discoveries. We learnt a lot about space, fingerprints, taste and what new developmental disorders are. We found learning about disorders the most interesting as it can be hard to understand what some people are going through. Another interesting thing we found out is that you cannot taste without your nose; this is because your nose receives chemicals that trigger the olfactory receptors that in turn inform the brain and create the sensation of flavour. Overall, it was a fun experience; we have taken many ideas and look forward to taking part in it next year.
