Year 11 Prize Giving
Maria in Nightingale 1 sent this report:
On Wednesday, 15 January, Invicta held an awards ceremony for all of the former Year 11 students, to celebrate their achievements in their GCSE examinations, along with the multitude of other successes during our five years at the school.
The evening started with an amazing performance by the Year 12 house band performing “A Crazy Little Thing Called Love”. The performance was followed by an opening speech from Mrs Lloyd, and our Head of Year, Mrs Payne, warmly welcoming us back and praising us for an excellent set of results as a year group.
As part of the evening former Year 11 students, Ellen Angel and Solape Tunde-Dauda, took us on their journey as students at Invicta from 2014 to 2019, highlighting the caring, kind and welcoming community Invicta teachers and students offered. The girls reminisced on the memories made during school productions, many school trips, musical and sporting events and other activities that made our experience at Invicta so rememberable and unique!
Tori James, an adventurer and the youngest British woman to climb to the summit of Mount Everest, gave an uplifting speech about resilience, confidence and stepping outside our comfort zones. She encouraged us to dream, and work hard so our dreams become a reality; just as she accomplished her dream of climbing Everest after 18 months of tough training, at only 25 years old. Thank you Tori for inspiring us all!
Following the speeches, GCSE certificates were distributed in a golden envelope, and the awards ceremony began. Congratulations to all of the students who won an award, due to their determination, skill and passion for their subject! During the evening, not only were excellent grades celebrated, but students’ resilience, increased confidence and motivation to do their absolute best. A big thank you to all the teachers, staff and parents who supported us from the beginning! Finally, well done to everyone for their achievements, from Year 7 until now and good luck for your future goals and ambitions!
There are lots of lovely photographs from the evening. If you had your photograph taken and would like a copy, please contact Mrs Hare or Miss Jones.
