Bewl Water
On Friday, 13 September our Year 7 students, along with their form tutors and other adventurous members of staff, embarked on a day of challenges, activity, and team-building. Setting off early in the morning, Year 7 arrived at Bewl Water full of energy and excitement. After splitting into three groups, the students started scaling the activity challenge courses, tackling the orienteering task to find as many check points as possible around the site, or taking to the canoes and rafts. For each activity, the students had to work closely and efficiently in their teams to be successful; from lifting the whole team over a high wall, constructing a raft strong enough to hold tens of students, to finding their own way around the park using a map. Both myself and the staff were truly impressed by the students' bravery in overcoming their fears, using initiative, and their kindness towards one another when helping a friend in need. Needless to say, the day was full of screams and laughter, and many slightly soggy students, but everyone left with a real sense of achievement and new friends. I am sure the girls will remember this trip as a pivotal moment of their settling-in to Invicta and I hope that they will continue to employ these skills of teamwork, leadership, kindness, and communication over the coming year at our school. Though tired, the bus journeys home told
of the confidence students' had gained from trying something new, stories of mishaps and successes on the tasks, and many new friendships that had been formed.

Bewl Water was an amazing experience; we did a variety of different activities and I loved them all! We completed a challenge course with lots of activities to choose from, like crossing islands where we used a rope to swing across one island to another. We also did an activity called the spider web where we had to climb through the holes of the spider web without touching the rope or the wood around it. After that, we experienced water sports where we got to do either canoeing or raft building; that was so fun! The last activity we completed was orienteering; we had to find as many numbers as possible. There were three groups: A, B and C. At the end, all three groups were ranked into 1st, 2nd or 3rd with the amount of numbers the whole group found altogether. Group C came 1st, group A came 2nd and group B came 3rd. It was such a great day!
