School Production - Beauty and the Beast
Every year, Invicta delivers an exceptional performance in the end of year production; this year was no different with the amazing adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. After months of rehearsals and preparation, the show was a resounding success with over 1000 people watching in total. This reflects the abundance of talent, passion and determination of both the students and staff involved.
The performance took place over three days, including a primary school performance on Monday morning. This was enjoyed by students from the Valley Invicta Academy Trust in Kings Hill, Holborough, East Borough and the students from St Johns Primary School.
As part of the promotion, there was a raffle for a “Beauty and the Beast” themed hamper. Congratulations to the lucky winner- Louisa in 7S - for winning this amazing prize!
Ms. Harris-Tanzer sent this report:
What an amazing show! Once again, our students have risen to the occasion and entertained with energy, commitment and polish. The standing ovation, on the final night, was richly deserved and shared amongst both casts, who really brought ‘Beauty and the Beast’ to life. I know speaking to the performers after the show, from the (happy) tears and electric atmosphere, that they had had a wonderful experience and will cherish the memories of their wonderful achievement for a lifetime. I couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of them!
The team behind the production worked tirelessly to create amazing sets, props and costumes and combined with the amazing lighting and special effects, it really was a visual spectacular. The orchestra was sumptuous, led masterfully by Miss Lim and took us through the emotional narrative of the piece, with an ensemble in fine voice having rehearsed with Miss Fletcher and Mr Heaton. These combined helped also showcase the talented troupe of dancers, choreographed by Miss Palin.
I wish all the cast, orchestra, dancers and the wonderful and dedicated back stage crew, in fact all involved, some well-deserved rest over the summer. I would like to thank Mr Perry, Mr Curtis, Mr Reynolds and all in DT for the wonderful set and props, Mrs Birchall for her sewing prowess in creating and sourcing some of the costumes and putting together a beautiful programme. Mr Heaton, Miss Fletcher and the peripatetic singing teachers that made the cast sound so stunning. Miss Palin, not only for her wonderful choreography but along with the organisational prowess and support of Miss Sayer, her help corralling the troupes, backstage and making sure our fabulous ‘Ninjas’ got the set on and off smoothly. Mr Chambers, who no matter how outlandish or obscure my requests are, always comes up trumps. Aided by the incredibly hardworking, Bryony and Caitlin Boeshart, the show ran seamlessly from cue to cue. Mrs Giles and Mr Ehren for producing the show and coordinating all the elements with the crack team of Mrs Hare, Miss Jones, Mrs Rush and Mrs Owen. Mrs Swaffer for liasing with the Primary schools for their input and Mrs Harrington for filming the show. A special mention for Mr Malcolmson who I harangued into recording the voiceover narration and finally thanks to Mrs. Derrick who always supports us in this endeavour. Well done all! You smashed it! Have a blissful summer.
A huge well done to all the students and staff involved- you have done yourselves proud!
