Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Assessed Expedition
On Friday, 14 June 117 Year 9’s and 9 staff made their way to the Meopham area for their Bronze assessed expedition. The girls were fantastic and the weather was very kind to us throughout the 2 days. The students set off from 3 different starting points,; Holborough Lakes, Cuxton and Cobham and then walked to Hopehill Campsite. Some groups took just over the minimum 6 hours to complete! An enjoyable evening of cricket followed before the girls headed to bed ahead of their next day of walking. Students woke up at 5am in some cases, way before the staff to began packing away their tents, and a making a hearty breakfast before heading out on their final leg of their D of E Bronze experience!
The assessors passed all of the groups and reported that they were a huge credit to the school, well done girls! Thank you to Mrs Middleton, Mr Eke, Mr Ryder, Miss Derrick, Miss Dixon, Miss Grimsey, Mr Rzepka and Mrs Robinson for all of their work this year.’

On Friday, 14 June over 100 Year 9 students took part in their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. The expedition began in Meopham before splitting up into our groups. We had to walk for 12km each day, however after getting lost numerous times we ended up walking about 20km! Despite getting lost a few times we eventually got ourselves back on track, using our maps and asking local people for their help. One of my favourite parts was the camping as it was a time when everyone came together and just had a really great time. My favourite moment was when our whole group were all in the same tent and we just talked for about an hour and we all laughed so much! Overall, I really enjoyed it and think that it is a great experience as it teaches valuable life skills, team work and the ability to ask people for help that you would not normally talk to!
