Globe Players
Nandika Thileepan and Rachel Elliott sent this report:
‘On Tuesday, 26 March, the Globe Players arrived at our school to perform different scenes from Shakespeare’s plays. We sat in the hall surrounding the small Shakespeare style stage awaiting the show to begin. Shocking us instantaneously, four actors appeared out of nowhere as they began their first scene from ‘The Tempest’. After the thrilling first scene on a shipwrecked boat, one of the actors told us about the various plays performed in the Globe Theatre which was interrupted suddenly by three cackling witches from the play Macbeth. Soon after we saw an amazing variety of scenes from historic plays written by Shakespeare such as ‘Richard III’ and ‘Henry IV Part 1’. Following this we saw a brilliant segment of ‘Twelfth Night’. The acting was stunning and blew us all away. Even though we had to imagine some things in our head like how we needed the Antipholus twins and Dromio twins to appear the same, the show was astounding and we all thoroughly enjoyed the astonishing medley of plays they had portrayed to us. We would like to give a huge thank you to Miss Sayer for organising this whole event and to all of the hard work everyone has put in to this performance!’
