Gold DofE Assessed Expedition

‘“Buoys in the Hood” took on their final Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expedition from 13-18 July 2018 on the River Wye, Wales.
We had 2 days of reminding ourselves how to effectively canoe and then we moved onto our expedition.
We canoed more than 130km over 4 days in 4 boats with all of our kit. It was a really tough challenge but everyone enjoyed it and continued paddling. We all played games to keep us going, especially when the bends and corners just kept on coming!
The beautiful weather made the expedition both exciting and meant that we could get in and cool down if we needed to because the water was so warm!
The trip was made extra special for being Mrs Smart’s last school expedition, so we wanted to make her proud too - a huge thank you to her for making this all possible, supporting us and taking some brilliant action shots of when we are paddling down Symond’s Yat!
Over the years, Duke of Edinburgh has provided us with amazing opportunities, has given us life skills and formed lovely friendships. It is something we would encourage all students to participate in!’
