Year 5 Teambuilding Workshop
On Tuesday, 12 June a group of 30 Year 5 students took part in a Team Building Transition Workshop. The aim of this workshop was for students to work on developing their communication skills (speaking and listening) and to work as a team to complete a series of challenges. They were paired up in lots of different groups throughout the workshop so by the end they had met and worked with 8 new people! The first activity was called “Team Drawings”. Pairs had to take it in turns to be a “drawer” or a “describer”. Only one person from each person could see the image and the other had to draw what their partner described. A very challenging task with some very interesting results! The second activity was called “Who am I?” and involved the pairs trying to identify famous people using just Yes/No questions. By far the quickest celebrity they guessed was Justin Bieber! The third activity was a describing game called “Guess the Animal”. Pairs had to describe animals such as an orangutan, hippopotamus and lobster to one another. Not as easy it sounds. The final activity was code breaking. The group were given a code and the pairs had to write and answer questions to each other using the code. A fun way to end this exciting workshop. All left feeling much more confident and realising the importance of using good communication skills when working as a team.
