Year 7 Geography Visit to Spot Lane Nature Area
On Friday, 25 May, Year 7 took part in a Geography fieldtrip to Spot Lane Nature Area. It was a lovely sunny day for the 5.5 km walk through Bearsted, on to Spot Lane Nature Area and finally through Mote Park back to school.
Students had to imagine they worked for a company who specialises in designing recreational walks for local communities and carry out a fact finding trip, in order to plan an interesting day in the area for young children and seasoned hikers alike. This included techniques like taking photographs, carrying out environmental quality surveys and writing descriptions of various points so that students will be able to prepare details of the route to be followed, including the flora and fauna that future walkers should look for. Well done to the team leaders as they kept their groups very well organised in this endeavour.
The year group were very efficient, well prepared and overall it was an excellent day out. Thank you to the Geography department for organising the fieldtrip and to Mr Ryder for sending this report.
