Year 5 History Workshop
Nineteen Year 5 students attended the History workshop on Tuesday, 10 October 2017. For sixteen of them it was their first time at Invicta so they were a little nervous at the start as they waited to see what the teaching and teachers were like at a Grammar School. They had a challenging quiz with photos of young people and they had to guess who they grew up to be. There were a few gasps at the sight of a young Donald Trump and even more gasps when they guessed that the picture of a young person who they suggested was a man actually turned out to be Theresa May! The main focus was on Anachronisms and how to spot them. Having worked through a number of pictures, stories and film clips (The start of 'A Knights Tale' - jousting to a Queen song) they then had a chance to create their own anachronistic picture, examples being Queen Victoria eating McDonalds and a caveman on his iPhone! The Year 5s all met up with their parents at the end with the challenge to question their parents as to whether they knew what Anachronism meant!
