Year 11 Geography Fieldwork Trip - Leysdown
Year 11 Geography students visited Leysdown beach to complete their GCSE physical Geography fieldwork. Sian from 11V sent us this report:
We were transported to the Isle of Sheppey where we then proceeded to the beach and started our work. We had to assess the sea defences, such as groynes and sea walls, and provide evidence of successful protection of businesses and residential areas along the coast line. As we walked along the beach we were measuring rock sizes and shapes, measuring sediment levels near the groynes and considering the overall appearance and condition of the beach at 5 sites. We really enjoyed ourselves and many ended the day with some local fish and chips!
Thank you to the Geography department for organising this trip.
