Athletics continues to be popular amongst the students at Invicta Grammar school. Athletes represent the school in all disciplines and across all the year groups with our students performing to high standards in regional events such as the Kent School Games, Kent Super 8’s Competition, Kent Sportshall Athletics as well as local fixtures. School records tumble year upon year at Invicta Sports day with three records falling in 2016, despite some disruption due to the weather.
During the winter months, Sportshall Athletics is the focus building essential skills for the outdoor events as well as providing opportunities for competition. Last year both the Year 7 and Year 8 teams were placed 2nd in Kent.
Training begins at Easter for the outdoor athletics season with after school clubs and fixtures. Year 7 also have the opportunity to participate in the Super 8 Competition where 8 students each have to compete in several events, track, field and relay to accumulate points for the team total. Last year we had two teams which were placed first and second in the district and then went on to be placed 2nd overall in Kent.
Overall, athletics is an extremely popular sport at Invicta with some outstanding results achieved in it.
