Transition Programme for Year 5 Students

Welcome to Invicta’s Year 5 Transition Programme

At Invicta, we value the importance of a smooth transition from primary to secondary school. We recognise that it is a big step for students and parents. As such, we aim to provide a wide range of opportunities to enable students to feel at home quickly; to settle into our academic and social environment and to feel part of the Invicta community.

Invicta has an excellent induction programme, which starts in Year 5 and includes a variety of activities ranging from Year 5 Workshops, Open Evenings, Taster Mornings and 11+ Preparation Workshops. The programme continues in to Year 6 with Transition Workshops and a number of New Entrant’s Events for students who have been offered a place at Invicta. The girls who join us in September 2019 will be our Class of 2026, when they complete their studies.

The booklet download below contains information on events that can be booked via our online booking system by parents. The online booking system can be accessed via the front page of our website: www.invicta.viat.org.uk > Quick Links > Online Booking.

Please be aware that there are a number of events such as Literacy Challenges, Maths Challenges and Primary Speaking Competitions etc. which are booked directly with us by the primary schools.

We do hope your daughter will attend these events and we look forward to welcoming you and your family to Invicta Grammar School.

If you have students who will/may be sitting the Kent Test for entry to grammar school, the company who create the tests for KCC (GL Assessment) now have free familiarisation tests published on their website: here.

Parents comment:

"My daughter had set her own goal to attend Invicta Grammar and after attending many Year 5 Workshops she was even more enthusiastic to become an Invicta girl. The transition process for our daughter (and for Mum and Dad) was a great experience - resulting in no first day nerves but instead excitement.

I have verbally expressed to members of the Senior Leadership Team my views on how the workshops provided motivation for our daughter but I feel that it is timely to now formally record my sincere thanks to all staff involved.

With kind regards,"
