Charity Hospitality Event
On Tuesday 6 June, the 10Q Hospitality group ran their coursework event to raise money for Ronald MacDonald Housing. 30 guests were invited including representatives from the charity. The students prepared welcome drinks and canapes and a two-course meal with an American theme. To raise more money the students held a raffle with lots of donated prizes including baked goods.
The Ronald MacDonald Housing Charity is an independent charity providing a “home away from home” accommodation for the families of children in hospital. It is situated in Camberwell, London, 5 minutes from King’s College Hospital. The House is a safe haven from the stress and strain of Hospital life. Staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, there is always someone available with a listening ear and pot of tea at the ready. A charity close to one of our student’s heart.
Tim from the charity was ‘blown away’ with how much thought and preparation had gone into the event, he said ‘it was very professional and the girls did a wonderful job’.
The Year 10 students who ran this event were: Abbie Crease, Lucy Gosney, Robin Govier, Rachel Hughes, Elin Jarmin, Molly Jordan, Matilda Lines, Ella Pevy and Kacey Reach.
Mrs Parsons, Mrs Warner and Mrs Billingham are so proud of how hard the group worked during the day to prepare the food and set up the hall. Each student had a job role and their teachers were so impressed with how professional they all were during service. The event has made almost £400 which is amazing for a group of only 9 students!
