Year 7 Geography Visit to Boxley
On Thursday 25 May, Year 7 took part in a Geography fieldtrip to the North Downs. It was a lovely sunny day for the 5.5 km walk from the top of Boxley Hill, back to school along rural footpaths. Students had to imagine they were primary school teachers carrying out a fact finding trip, in order to plan an interesting day in the countryside for young children. This included taking photographs and writing descriptions of various points so that students will be able to prepare details of the route to be followed. They also completed various experiments in order to make the experience more interactive.
All of the Year 7's showed off their Geographical skills with soil sampling and using a clinometer to record slope angles. Well done to the team leaders as they kept their groups very well organised.
This year group were very efficient, well prepared and overall it was an excellent day out. Thank you to Miss Dixon, Lead Teacher of Geography, who led the field trip and sent us this report.
