Year 5 Open Evening
On Wednesday, 24 May, Invicta held their popular Year 5 Open Evening. The event was extremely well attended, with approximately 150 excited Year 5 students and their parents visiting the school.
The evening commenced with a talk from Mrs Derrick, Headteacher, who offered invaluable information regarding the Kent Test process and what Invicta can offer to potential students. The talk also included presentations by Year 7 students Terrena Laity and Emilia Bengtsson-Wheeler, who shared their experiences of transitioning from primary to secondary school. Both girls spoke with such confidence and clarity – the audience were very impressed by them! The second part of the evening involved the Year 5 students and their parents having the opportunity to experience a lesson at Invicta. There were a range of lessons on offer, including Science, Textiles, Languages, Drama, Maths, English and Geography. A particular highlight was Food Technology, where students and their parents baked bread rolls. The smell was fantastic!
The evening was enjoyed by all, and the feedback received from the prospective students and their parents has been extremely positive. Mrs Derrick and Mrs Giles would like to thank everyone that was involved in the organisation and delivery of the event, and are now looking forward to the Year 5 Taster Morning on Saturday, 24 June, where the Year 5 students will be invited back to Invicta to experience more lessons. Bookings for this event can be made via the website www.invicta.viat.org.uk.
