Belgium Student Teachers Visit Invicta
Miss Dixon sent us this report of the visit from a group of Belgium Student Teachers:
“This is the sixth year of collaboration between Odisee University, Invicta Grammar School and Valley Park School. On 16 May, 45 student-teachers and 5 members of staff spent a day at both schools. The aim was to gain from an experience of the English educational system. Our guests had the opportunity to observe lessons and tour the schools. Our Year 7 and 8 students enjoyed looking after the group and confidently showcased Invicta.
The highlight of the day for the visitors was the opportunity to teach a lesson. The lessons had been carefully planned and prepared and our students benefited from some very engaging sessions. Staff at both schools felt that teaching a lesson in a second language, in a completely new environment, was something to be proud of.
There was also an opportunity for the student teachers to meet members of staff at both schools and discuss teacher training experiences with their counterparts training with Canterbury Christ Church University.
It was a very successful day for all parties. Berlinde De Meyer, Head of Placements from Odisee University thanked students and staff for their hospitality. We look forward to the visit next year.”
Than you to Miss Dixon who organised the event for Invicta.
