Mr Riley, Director of Music sent us this report:
“With every spare classroom chair requisitioned, Invicta's site team did a wonderful job in setting up the Hall for our full-to-capacity Spring Concert, master-minded as so oft before, by Mr Heaton. Like a great opera, each scena unfolded with a new act, or combination of acts, culminating in the grandest of musical finales. This term's novelty was the appearance of the Primary School Choir. Their Matilda sequence was very effective, as was the rendition of Jada. Although the programme's emphasis was mostly on vocal items, the Orchestra coped admirably with Coates' challenging Eighth Army March, before setting many toes wriggling with Offenbach's Can-Can and Mancini's delightful Baby Elephant Walk. The Year 8 House Band made an excellent debut and it was good to see (and hear) how well the Guitar Ensemble is developing under Mr Scaturro's careful cultivation.
Given the horrific and dreadful news which had emerged from Westminster just prior to the concert, these 100 minutes of polished and passionate performance lifted everyone's spirits, making one rejoice in the restorative and civilising power of music.”
Thank you to Mr Heaton, Mr Riley and all our wonderful performers. Thank you also to those working behind the scenes. It was a fantastic concert.
