World School 2017 Delegates
After reading many World School 2017 applications and listening to 23 presentations from Year 11 students last week, we were down to the interview stage. The plan had been to interview six students but the standard was so high that nine were asked to attend Mrs Derrick’s Office on Friday. It was a tense afternoon, as each girl was asked questions and given the opportunity to ask some tough questions of the panel, which consisted of Mrs Derrick. Mrs Bui and delegation leader Miss Laming. By 5.30pm on Friday night after a lot of discussion, a decision was made.
We are delighted to announce that Ellie Brown, Asha Root and Holly Siu will accompany Miss Laming to Brisbane in Australia in October 2017.
Mrs Derrick sent the girls the following message:
“Very many congratulations on your wonderful achievement this week. You will make excellent World School Ambassadors and I have no doubt that you will be a great team. Your presentations and interviews were very strong. I was particularly impressed with your understanding of the World School values and am sure that you will embrace that World School has to offer. Well done! I shall look forward to seeing you continue the great legacy of our other World School Ambassadors.”
Mrs Derrick sent those students who were interviewed the following message:
“I would like to say a HUGE congratulations to each and every one of you for getting through to the final stage of the selection process for World School. It is a credit to you that you have done so well.
I have been really impressed by your professionalism, commitment and enthusiasm throughout the whole process. You are all going to go a long way!
I shall look forward to seeing you continue to do so well over the next few years and hope that you will all now have the confidence to apply for other leadership roles – including the Senior Prefect team next year. Each and every one of you have a lot to offer!"
Delegates from World School 2015 (Italy) and World School 2016 (Japan) met the new delegates on Monday, to congratulate them and offer advice. Now the hard work begins!
