Year 8 Religious Studies Visit to Canterbury
Year 8 students visited Canterbury for the Religious Studies pilgrimage trip on 6 January. The students enjoyed their guided tour of Canterbury Cathedral that examined the vast history of pilgrimage, particularly focusing on the murder of Thomas Beckett and his shrine. Students were given the pilgrim experience when challenged by the guides to kneel up the stairs to the Trinity Chapel.
Students also visited The Canterbury Tales Experience, which depicts the main stories of Geoffrey Chaucer. The group were guided through the world of a fourteenth century pilgrim so that they could write a diary entry. Students then visited the Roman Museum to immerse themselves in the ancient Roman civilization of Canterbury. Students dressed up in Roman costume and visited the Roman market place to see what could be bought in Roman times.
All students had an interested and fun day out in Canterbury.
Thank you to Miss Cavender and her team for taking Year 8 on the visit.
