Year 8 Visit Paris
Year 8 student Luna Gurung sent us this report of the visit:
“The Year 8 went to Paris on Friday, 7 October and stayed for two nights. It was an enjoyable experience for students who were able to make new connections with peers within the Year Group.
On Friday, 163 students and 17 staff departed from school and made their way to France via the Eurotunnel Terminal Shuttle. Arriving at Cité des Sciences, the girls explored the biggest science museum in Europe which is located in Parc de la Villette in Paris. There was a planetarium, a submarine “I’ Argonaut” and an IMAX theatre (La Géode). Touring all three of the areas, students were mesmerised by the visuals of the museum. Afterwards, the group went to Cité des Enfants (an interactive area with six sections) and then to the accommodation (FIAP) and had a joyous evening meal together.
The next day the group had breakfast and visited Palais de la Découverte, including the fabulous planetarium, and watched a beautiful dome projection about the stars, planets and constellations. At lunch time, the Year 8s stopped to eat their packed lunch at Tuileries Garden. The weather was beautiful and the girls enjoyed sharing their sweets with one another! Later, Miss Parker led the group to Musée du Louvre and showed the students the Mona Lisa and other famous pieces of art work. For dinner, the restaurant ‘Monte Carlo’ welcomed the group before they transferred to Bateaux Parisiens, for a river tour on the River Siene. The wonderful sights of Paris were appreciated by all, and the girls thoroughly enjoyed waving at friendly passers-by! Whilst on the river tour, the Eiffel Tower lit up and sparkled, making the experience a truly magical one! After taking photos at the Eiffel Tower, the Invicta party travelled to the top of Montparnasse Tower to experience the view of the night scene in Paris. Everybody slept very well that evening!
The girls loved the river tour as the view was “amazing” and the “lights on the Eiffel Tower flashed in the night and gave them all a lovely photo opportunity. Luna Gurung, 8C said “The night scene had an attractive charm that I enjoyed the most. Although the sight from Montparnasse Tower was pretty, the boat cruise gave more of an insight to the land marks in Paris.”
On Sunday, the group departed the very comfortable FIAP and travelled, by coach to Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris to look inside and to take a small shopping trip around the area.
Miss Parker would like to thank the incredible team of staff for supporting the trip and helping to provide the girls with an experience of a lifetime. Additionally, the Year 8 students must be congratulated on their excellent behaviour throughout the trip and Miss Parker is grateful to have such an enthusiastic, motivated and respectful Year Group. Well done Year 8!”
Thank you to Miss Parker and her team including the administrators back at school who made this visit so successful.
