Year 5 Geography Primary Workshop
On Monday, 26 September, Year 5 students from a number of local primary schools arrived at Invicta to experience a day of Geography fieldwork. The aim of the day was to gain knowledge of Invicta's outdoor environment and to develop student’s awareness of geographical fieldwork skills by linking maps and photographs.
Students spent the morning exploring the grounds in small groups, completing a photographic treasure hunt and scoring various sites according to factors such as how sheltered or attractive they were. Mathematical skills were necessary in order to total up all the results in order to find their ideal location to have lunch. Students were able to use this data to produce graphs. By the end of the day all students had familiarised themselves with the layout of Invicta and were confident in finding their way around, as well as making some new friends.
Thank you to Miss Dixon, Lead Teacher of Geography, who planned and delivered the workshop.
